I have come upon this article on Yahoo news regarding Stephen Hawking’s view about the afterlife. When asked of whether he feared death, his response was nay; he believed that there is no heaven or afterlife—that such is just a fairy story for people afraid of the dark.
While I admire his great intellect, I cannot find myself sharing his view. Though I have found some enlightenment on the great arms of science, I cannot dismiss the fact of its limitations. I have always believed that my senses are just as narrow as my understating of the mystery of the universe. Though science had made it clear the truth about many things, it will always remain on the realm of our senses. Our eyes can only perceive the wave of colors but is useless without light; our ears can interpret the wave of sounds yet it is of no use in the realm of silence. These two prominent senses we have used to know what is there to know about this perception we called life. Yet we have dismissed the fact of a reality without them.
A person born blind and deaf will never understand the concept of the color yellow, nor would comprehend the sound of a chirping bird. Since our perceptions are limited when it comes to comprehending the concept of the Divine, we have mistakenly relied upon the tools of science to dissect the existence of God. Science is founded upon the senses of man, therefore it cannot interpret things that are beyond it. I find it impossible to understand a Higher Being unless we stop looking at it with our senses.
Giving the choice of believing or not believing, I will lose nothing if I enjoin the former. Faith is the only window that can bring a man closer to the Divine. But let me clarify that the faith I mention here is not of those found in religion. By faith I mean the purity of one’s belief—uncorrupted by ignorance, arrogance, deceit and self service. Remember the thief who was crucified with Jesus? He put his genuine faith when he said, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
Death is not the end of consciousness as we know it. When the body fades, our true essence will be liberated; then and only then can we understand what is there to know about everything. As for now, let us use science to enlighten us about the mechanics of this universe we are living in, but not to the point of making it the absolute arbiter of everything.
We are far greater than we think. Whence science tells us we are but evolution of this universe, reason sees otherwise.

I totally agree with you, But note that what you say, who have ever seen in his life yellow color, sure can not imagine even the color. In my opinion, so even people who do not feel that the reality that over the physical reality, perhaps he is right when he says it does not exist. Because for him it really does not exist.

I totally agree with you aswell. I was in the same room when my father died of cancer and I could literally feel his life-energy being liberated. The room was so full of peace and felt nothing like the end of his being. Life is wonderful and death is just a new beginning!
