Everyday decisions that wastes our life

“The clock is running.

Make the most of today.

Time waits for no man.

Yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

Today is a gift.

That’s why it is called the present.”

Everyday we live our lives repeating the one that have passed, not realizing we are in a loop.  We wake up in the morning thinking of what has been—and confine ourselves back in. On other occasion, we torture ourselves of what’s to come, thereby creating an illusion of fear over things that have never been.

We know our past, and we can confirm our destination, yet we don’t know where we are! Far away we always look, missing the things before us—things that would make a shift in our lives.

Can we not see these common foolish decisions we make at every waking moments of our lives? It is unfortunate that many are not aware.

Open your eyes and see where you really are, because the things you need to go forward are within it.

How?

By letting go of these crippling everyday decisions, one will be able to see what life can really offer:

Giving self doubt permission to dominate

Everyday we have a lot of doubts about a lot of things; we doubt ourselves, we doubt other people and we doubt certain outcomes. While doubt can be beneficial, doubt of one’s capacity is not. Self doubt has been the major reason why many people live in less than extraordinary existence. The truth however is that each of us have the capacity to conquer the things we set our minds into, it is just a matter of believing in one’s self that one can realize this power.

Allowing external opinion/judgment to affect your decision

Now this is all too common mistake we make when it comes to deciding what’s the best for us. Everyday we make choices on what will benefit us the most, but most of the time we settle on following the dictum of the general opinion or judgment. As a consequence we harbor dissatisfaction and resentments.

Let us remember that it is us that will be affected by our decisions. It’s fine to take into consideration the opinion/judgment of others—so long as we can deduce value from it. But in the end we must follow our heart. Otherwise we won’t be in control.

Comparing one’s self with others

In our everyday interactions with people we unconsciously compare ourselves from others. We always look for identifiers that would weigh our superiority or inferiority with the people we encounter. Albeit this natural instinct that are common among humans, decide not to make a comparison of yourself from others.

All of us have our own unique contribution to give to the world. Let us look at what we are good at—not on what others are good at.

Not making any attempt to make a difference

Each day has always been an opportunity to make a difference in our lives—in whatever aspects you choose to. You could make an attempt to lose weight or learn to play the piano or start on the goal you have been wanting to achieve, or write that novel that’s been wanting to have life—anything that would nudge you from your usual boring day-to-day routine in order to discover a hidden aspects of yourself. Great people did not come by accident: they are those who made an attempt to make a difference in their lives.

The decision to settle in dreaming

Dreaming is the number one killer of dreams! It robs us of the chance to experience our deserved triumph in life. Each of us is equipped with means to attain our dreams, we just need to cut our dreaming and start on working. The more we act, the more opportunities that will present to bring us closer in realizing our dreams.

Life is short and unpredictable, make the most of it by being wise with every decision that we make.

Remember: our fate are but the web of decisions we make at every moment, so make it meaningful.

Great post. At the end of the day, you live and die alone. Living life and trying to win other people’s approval is a loser’s game. The only person you should live for is yourself.
