What you do today shapes your future

Did you ever wonder what your future will be? Though it’s impossible to predict, with great accuracy, our circumstances during such time, did it ever occurred to you that you play a big part in influencing its outcome?  I find it absurd that most people hope for a bright future yet does nothing on their part to make it so. Some aspire of their future as being settled in a life of prosperity, peace and health, but if you look at what they are doing each day, you’ll find no reference to such aspirations. How come we wish for an ideal future sans the sacrifices we must undertake to make it possible? Fools we are such to believe that it will somehow be granted unto us if we just put our belief in it. Snap out of such lie! Life does not work this way.

If we really want to make something good of our future then we must work each day towards its realization. The law of life follows the Law of Inertia, which simply means that nothing will change unless a force is introduced to affect change. Though this principle is simple (and elementary), most of us find it hard to understand this universal truth. We would rather rely on hope and faith to bring us to the future we aspire. As a consequence, we end up in misery and dissatisfaction.

My dear readers, let me remind you of the old wisdom: “What you sow, so shall you reap,” enforcing common sense we can see the simplicity of this dictum. Put an effort each day to do something that will mold your future according to your desire; it does not have to be enormous: a cathedral has not been erected overnight; it formed through little bricks that’s being laid each day. It does not matter how grand the future you want to realize, just lay the foundation at every moment and it will slowly take its form.

A few years back I dreamed of being a writer. It is only last year that I’ve decided to commit myself in its pursuance. Since then I try my best to write each day—even if I find it hard to come up with a cohesive composition. As I struggle along, I have found that writing alone would not make me a good writer. So I espoused the company of good books. As I read my way through I had unconsciously incorporated within me the proper flow of words as well as its creative (and intelligent) construction.  Frankly, I was surprised by the outcome. Never would I’ve thought that I have within me the capability to evolve as a writer. Later on I realized that our minds and bodies are capable of achieving anything it wants to attain, provided that we commit ourselves.

Our destiny depends on what we make of it at every moment.  Any dreams and aspirations we want for our future needs to be established right now—if we really want to make it a reality.  Allowing ourselves to be satisfied with idleness and status quo will not bring us any promising future; it’s a foolish mistake to think of otherwise. Don’t wait for the right moment: there’s no such thing! Act in the living present, here is where you can really weave the future that you want to have. Dreaming alone will give us nothing; relying on luck can only disappoint us.

Make a decision right now. Ask yourself: “What kind of future do I want to have for myself?” Answer this question and align your everyday actions toward it. Make an effort everyday, no matter how small, to this end.  Believe me you’ll be surprised at what you can do.

MY eBOOK,  I OFFER TO YOU…

There are many things I have learned about the nature of success; from the library of books I have read and collected, I came to familiarize myself about the principles of achieving what we want in life. Still I find something lacking. Though I made an effort in implementing the principles I have learned, there are forces within me that blocks my success in life. I would always end up finding myself mired in fear, laziness, bitterness and procrastination.

With all my effort I have tried to dissect the reason why I have failed in the pursuance of my aspirations. But then that I found that I am being manipulated by a system within me that is resisting success. Such is the reason I have written this book. I want to share with you the things that are holding us back from succeeding. It is right before us but we are too blind to see it. Because of our tendency to restrict ourselves to the safety of the familiar, we have denied ourselves of the opportunity of reaping the rewards that awaits us.

The book is short, brief and simple. It portrays some aspect of our mentality that prohibits us from achieving our dreams. A simple truth has opened my eyes: No matter how much we acquire the knowledge of gaining success in any field, if we don’t have the knowing of our own selves and seek awareness, there will be no triumph of any form.

See yourself before your mind does; it is only then that you will gain complete control of your self. It will take time to break your self from the habits of the mind, but with awareness, effort and commitment, you will gain mastery.

  5. Hi Walter,
I think we all must aspire to a course of action or postive path. This is what we call human nature. However, in the end it is seldom realized by many. Certainly not myself!
