Every person, from all walks of life has probably asked this question once in their life. Few ventured for answers; some leave it as a fact. For many, settling on dreaming provides a little bit of feel on what it’s like to be on the top. Some made an effort, but balk at the first sign hardship. Few understood the mechanics of success.
The most powerful hindrance making success elusive is the perceived “DIFFICULTY” it entails; a formidable deceit towering on one’s mind. It is a pity we are engulfed by such illusion that we helplessly settle down on the mud—without knowing why–as we thrive our way from our borrowed time.
Few are those who discover their power to succeed; they are those who defied the admonitions of hardships conjured by a weak mind. Some fear the indispensable struggle inherent in its pursuit: I once had this mindset. But observing life I saw something wrong about this belief. I realized that my cumbersome connotation of struggle destroys any opportunity to make an attempt. It made impossible my true capacity for triumph. It dawned on me that I was the enemy. So I wage a war on my mind— our mind is a powerful dictator, you have to channel it to your advantage.
Gradually, I have befriended the spirit of success. I was surprised to discover what I’m capable of. If you find yourself in a state of success everything you do will manifest to that end; opportunity will suddenly present in abundance and everything will be in parallel.
At this point I may sense some cynicisms rising; you may be dubious of what am I saying. Let me ask you: did you ever have something you wanted to do all your life? If so, what’s preventing you from doing it? Because it’s hard? Because there are many things to do?
The problem with us is our habit of taking for reality what we initially perceive as difficult; then we calcify this “fact” onto our minds and finally, relinquish any thought of possibility. No wonder few make it on top of the success pyramid. Why? Because they did not allow themselves to be admonished by uncertainty. Any obstacle that comes their way is always faced with resistance and staunchness—many are not aware that often, obstacles carry with it some hidden opportunities.
Have you not been curious about the autobiographies of successful people? I’m sure some did for inspiration. Notice the thing they share in common? DETERMINATION. With such an arsenal nobody can deter their destiny; they make things happen without giving room for impossibility. Standing in awe are the envious ones who cannot fathom how the great ones did it; unaware that they have the capability all along– but are too blinded by their ossified and self-defeating beliefs. If all men are created equal each of us should have our share of success.
Now, ask yourself this question: will you be satisfied with your life of mediocrity or use your God-given abilities to claim your share of success? Ask yourself this question every time you go to bed because tomorrow you might not have the chance. Our conception into this life is indeed a great opportunity, if God provides for every creatures on this planet imagine what He had bestowed upon us– the power to create and make things possible. Use it before it’s too late!

Great post Walter.I’ve been thinking about this for awhile. When I speak with my old classmates and I talk about what I’m doing, they say ” Wow, I’d like to do that, but it’s too hard…”
They stop right there. It’s hard, the end. No growth or challenges. I once heard obstacles are there to filter the weak from the strong and that seems to be the case. In the classic essay ” The Common Denominator of Success” the author found the difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is that successful people favor ” favorable results” while unsuccessful people favor “favorable methods.” In addition, successful people don’t like unpleasing methods either but their thoughts of displeasure are overshadowed by their vision of their results.
For me I feel less of a man taking the easy route. I would’ve made a great math professor/teacher. But just because I can do something doesn’t mean that I always should. That path had no soul. If everyone thinks that I can do something, and I know that I can do something, where’s the challenge? Where’s the fun. When do I venture out of my comfort zone. Being so predictable, is really boring in my opinion.
Anyways, maybe I’m going off tangent here, but I understand your point

I agree without a doubt that determination is the main factor which separates greatness from mediocrity. It is so easy to give up and coast through life, but to be able to pick ourself up and dust ourself off after each failure, not caring how hard we fell, but only what we have to do next to achieve our dream, is something that only a select few can do.
Thanks for the inspiration again,
Mike

I don’t agree that everything depends on determination, yes it is an important factor but there are also some external factor which don’t depend from you.
